Train of trainers on how to disseminate anti-malarial drug information

The Food and Drug Department, together with the provincial health department of Savannakhet, has launched training sessions for provincial and district health officials to disseminate anti-malarial drug information in Savannakhet, between 15-17 / 8/2017, with the chairmanship of Dr. Chandone Maniphouxay, Deputy Head of Public Health Department of Savannakhet, Mr. Nored Vongkhambou, the Savannakhet Head of Food and Drug Unit, and Mrs Kongmany Nammavongmixay Deputy Chief of IEC Division of FDD.

The training were 45 participants, 17 were women from two provinces ( 33 people of Savannakhet Province were from the provincial Food and Drug Unit, Malaria-Parasitology and Insect unit, Educational unit, Medical doctor of Military, and District Hospital, Head of Health Office of District, Food and Drug district of 15 districts (Atsaphangthong, Phin, Sepon, Thaphangthong, Phalanexay, Khantabouly, Uthomphone, Nong, Champone, Sonebouly, Songkhone, Saybouly, Vilabouly, Khanthabouly and Sayphouthong District). The participant were also from Salavan Province (12 from the Food and Drug unit, Malaria-Parasitology Insect unit, Medical doctor from Saravan Province and Military Hospital of Saravanh, the Head of the Office of Public Health and Food And districts of 3 districts (Saravane, Tieu and Thang Long) with support NFM's project under GF.

The aim of the training is to Provide knowledge on the resistance against malaria medicine, counterfeit medicines, sub-standard antibiotics, and the reasonable use of anti-malaria medicine, causes drug resistance and remedies of the problems and can be disseminated the information to medical practitioners, pharmacy owner, and people who have access to information aware of the use of anti-malaria medicines and to make effective and reasonable use of anti-malaria medicines in order to avoid drug resistance.
